System Integration Engineer

The Opportunity
For an international technology company, we are looking for a System Integration Engineer to join a technical team in Hamburg.
This is a hands-on position combining IT systems, integration, troubleshooting, and customer-facing technical support.
You will work with sophisticated networked and software-based systems in a technically demanding environment, supporting their integration, testing and reliable operation.
The position could be particularly interesting for an IT technician, system engineer or technically minded engineer who enjoys solving problems directly within a customer environment rather than working exclusively from an office.
Previous experience within aviation or another highly regulated technical industry is beneficial, but not essential. Candidates from IT, automotive, industrial technology, and other technically complex environments are equally welcome.
Your Responsibilities
- Support the integration, configuration, testing, and operation of complex IT and software-based systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues involving Linux, IP networks, software, connectivity, and system interfaces.
- Investigate system problems and implement or coordinate appropriate technical solutions.
- Support hardware, cabling and connectivity troubleshooting where required.
- Provide on-site technical support within a customer environment.
- Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal technical teams to resolve integration issues.
- Document technical problems, corrective actions and relevant system information.
- Escalate complex issues to the appropriate engineering teams and follow them through to resolution.
- Support technical testing and verification activities.
- Maintain accurate technical and project-related documentation.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, coaching, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Work in accordance with established quality, safety, and technical procedures.
Your Profile
We are open to candidates with different levels of experience and technical backgrounds.
Ideally, you bring:
- A technical qualification, degree or relevant practical experience in Information Technology, Engineering, Electronics or a related field.
- Experience working with Linux-based systems.
- Good knowledge of IP networking / TCP/IP.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with networked, software-based or integrated technical systems.
- Ability to understand technical documentation, diagrams and system information.
- A practical, hands-on approach to solving technical problems.
- Confidence working independently as well as within an international team.
- A professional and customer-oriented communication style.
- Good German and English language skills.
- A valid German or EU driving licence.
Experience with wiring diagrams, electronics, fibre-optic technologies, diagnostic equipment or systems within aviation or another regulated technical environment would be an advantage.
Working Environment
You will join a small, international technical team and work closely with colleagues, customers and other technical stakeholders.
The position is primarily based in the Hamburg area and combines office-based activities with regular technical work at a nearby customer location. Transportation required between local work locations is provided for business purposes.
Working hours are generally regular, although some flexibility may occasionally be required depending on operational needs.
Travel is limited and expected to be occasional.
