Environment, Health & Safety Manager (EHS Manager)

About the Opportunity
On behalf of an established
international manufacturing company, we are supporting the search for an experienced
Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead all EHS activities at a production site in Italy.
This is a key leadership role with
full responsibility for environmental, health and safety compliance, including acting as
RSPP (Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione) in line with Italian legislation. The position plays a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering closely with site leadership and external authorities.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment Leadership
Ensure safe, healthy, and compliant working conditions for all employees across the site.
- Act as RSPP, fulfilling all legal duties in accordance with Italian regulations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with Italian EHS legislation, including
D.Lgs. 81/08 and
D.Lgs. 152/06.
Prepare, maintain, and regularly update the
Risk Assessment Document (DVR).
- Manage and maintain relevant certifications and standards (e.g. ISO 14001).
Training & Awareness
- Identify EHS training needs across the organisation.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs for employees and management.
Operational Safety & Environmental Management
Oversee hazardous materials management, PPE programs, and waste handling processes.
Conduct regular inspections, internal audits, and preventive testing of equipment and workplaces.
- Exercise authority to stop production activities in case of serious or imminent safety risks.
Monitoring, Reporting & Emergency Preparedness
- Define, monitor, and report key EHS performance indicators to site leadership.
- Ensure emergency preparedness, including fire safety, evacuation procedures, and drills.
- Coordinate with occupational health services and the occupational physician.
Stakeholder & Authority Interface
- Act as the primary EHS contact for local authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Manage operational permits and official EHS documentation.
- Contribute to the development of the site’s EHS strategy and manage the related budget.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Master’s degree in Environment, Health & Safety, or Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial), or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in EHS roles within a manufacturing and/or multinational environment.
- Proven experience working with production processes and industrial safety requirements.
- Demonstrated responsibility for EHS compliance at site level.
Certifications & Knowledge
RSPP certification (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of Italian EHS legislation (D.Lgs. 81/08, D.Lgs. 152/06).
- Familiarity with environmental and safety management systems.
Languages
- Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken).
