Position Overview

The Foreign HR Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of expatriate and foreign employee affairs in South Africa. Based in Gauteng, this role serves as the central operational point of contact for international staff—overseeing visa and work permit compliance, end-to-end relocation and onboarding processes, and driving cross-cultural integration strategies to support the company's regional business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Immigration & Compliance Management: Oversee end-to-end visa and work permit processing, ensuring full compliance with South African immigration laws, labor regulations, and corporate policies.

  • Expatriate Lifecycle Operations: Manage complete onboarding, relocation, and offboarding processes for foreign employees and expatriate assignees.

  • Cross-Cultural Integration & Support: Provide dedicated support to foreign staff to facilitate smooth cultural transition, workplace integration, and operational alignment.

  • Stakeholder & Agency Liaison: Partner closely with government immigration authorities, external legal counsels, relocation vendors, and internal HR stakeholders.

  • Policy Guidance & Advisory: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local work authorization requirements and advise international assignees and management on global mobility processes.

Candidate Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience: 5–8 years of practical HR experience with a strong focus on global mobility, foreign employee management, or expatriate operations.

  • Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of South African immigration regulations, work permit applications, and expatriate compliance workflows.

  • Language Skills: Fluent spoken and written English communication skills to liaise effectively with international assignees, internal departments, and external authorities.

  • Key Competencies:

    • Exceptional organizational, coordination, and administrative skills with high attention to detail.

    • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication abilities to support diverse workforces.

    • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset capable of resolving complex immigration and mobility cases independently.
