Our client is a global technology leader developing advanced solutions for the semiconductor industry. As part of its Research & Development organisation, the company is looking for an experienced Lab Development Engineer (m/f/d) to help design and develop next-generation automated testing environments that support innovative product development.

Your Responsibilities


As a Lab Development Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining advanced laboratory automation systems by:

  • Designing and implementing automated testing environments for product verification and validation
  • Developing and enhancing PLC-based control systems using Beckhoff TwinCAT and Structured Text (ST)
  • Defining and driving the roadmap for laboratory automation systems
  • Selecting and integrating PLC hardware, I/O modules, sensors, actuators and communication interfaces
  • Collaborating closely with R&D, quality, design and mechatronics teams on complex engineering projects
  • Performing verification and validation activities in accordance with internal and industry standards
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation
  • Supporting product commissioning and providing second-level technical support when required

Your Profile

We are looking for an engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a practical, solution-oriented mindset.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • A technical qualification in Automation Engineering or a comparable discipline
  • Further education in Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or Electrical Engineering
  • At least five years of experience developing PLC applications using Beckhoff TwinCAT and Structured Text (ST)
  • Experience designing electrical circuits and automation hardware
  • Knowledge of verification and validation testing methodologies
  • Strong analytical thinking and a structured approach to solving technical challenges
  • A proactive, hands-on working style
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • German language skills would be an advantage but are not essential
